Brookhaven Fire Station Experiencing A/C Outages

As 100-degree temps approach, a local fire station has a cooling unit on the fritz.

Talk about a bad time to start having A/C problems ...

DeKalb County Fire Station No. 2 has been experiencing intermittent air-conditioning outages for the past two weeks, and the problems are continuing as a potentially record-setting heat stretch approaches.

DeKalb spokesman Burke Brennan confirmed to Patch that the station, located on Dresden Drive, began experiencing A/C problems two weeks ago.

"When the unit first went out two weeks ago, we fixed it, and then it went out the very next day, and we fixed it again," he said. "Beginning Thursday, we began installing a brand new unit, and that work continued on Friday."

The problems with the unit are occurring as this weekend.

Patch first learned of the troubles with the unit from Ronnie Mayer, who said he had been in contact with DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis' office regarding the problem.
