Brookhaven Councilwoman: My Tax Bill Dropped $75

District 1 representative Rebecca Chase Williams credited the council's recently passage millage rate for the decrease.

Brookhaven's District 1 City Councilwoman Rebecca Chase Williams sent a delighted note to constituents recently, saying her taxes dropped $75 this year.

She credits the city council's recently passed millage rate with the decrease, according to a Tuesday report in the Dunwoody Crier.

From Williams' update:

Last month, the council passed a tax millage rate of 2.85 mills, much lower than the 3.35 maximum rate allowed by our charter and one of the lowest city rates in DeKalb County! We are getting ready to do our mid-year budget update and I’m happy to report that revenues are higher than predicted and our plan is to end the year with a reserve.
