Briarwood Park Open Next Weekend

A work day is being planned in conjunction with the special day of operation.


will be open next Saturday, Sept. 15, and the is organizing a work day in conjunction.

The work day will run from 8 am to 1 pm. There are three planned activities:

  • Spray Round Up on the perimeter of both forested areas and the driveway entrance north of the park intersection;
  • Mow the lawn at the main park entrance;
  • Cut the vines on the large trees in both forested areas.

Volunteers are asked to bring one gallon of Round Up weed killer and limb trimming tools. Friends of Briarwood Park will provide the lawnmower, blower and bags.

Are you open to the option of less toxic means of weed elimination such as undiluted vinegar or a thick wood chip mulch? This is a good start if you are willing to learn more about alternatives to hazardous pesticides/herbicides. http://www.beyondpesticides.org/lawn/ Thanks for your consideration. :)
