Brookhaven gets a new streetlight district

Brookhaven’s Blair Circle will get a little brighter in the evening, as the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved local residents’ requests for a series of streetlights.

A total of 11 streetlights were unanimously approved by the commission.

Located near the intersection of Ashford-Dunwoody and Johnson Ferry roads, a majority of Blair Circle residents had petitioned the county for streetlights throughout their neighborhood. The fixtures will cost the county a total of $45,983, and property in the community will be assessed $1.51 per lighted foot, per year.

Legally, the county had to create a new streetlight district to install and maintain the fixtures. Blair Circle’s new streetlight district is 111E.
