An Atlanta woman is dead after she was struck by a car on Peachtree Road just north of Dresden Drive early Sunday morning.

Sarah Christy Gilliland, 35, of Atlanta, stepped into the northbound lane and was hit by a 2006 BMW 750i driven by Harvey Jerome Bellamy, 34, of Roswell, at 2:39 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol. Gilliland was not in a crosswalk, police said.

She was taken in an ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation and does not anticipate charges, according to a statement released to local media Sunday morning.

Gilliland was a bartender and assistant general manager at The Bat and Ball Pub in Brookhaven on Johnson Ferry Road. A employee there directed a Patch reporter to the pub's corporate headquarters Sunday night but added that Gilliland was "very well-liked and well-loved."
