The extension of arrest powers to municipalities is common between county and municipal law enforcement agencies, especially for officers who are likely to travel outside of their jurisdiction while performing law enforcement duties.

“The effectiveness of the Brookhaven Police Department has been greatly increased through this partnership with Sheriff Brown," Brookhaven Police Lt. Brandon Gurley said. “We will now be able to follow investigative leads outside of our city that will help us locate and arrest those responsible for committing crimes in Brookhaven.”
