Brookhaven Family Carjacked at Gunpoint

"You don't give me the car, I'm going to kill you and your family," the suspect told the father.

A Brookhaven family was carjacked at gunpoint outside their apartment off Buford Highway on Monday night, DeKalb County police said.

The 46-year-old father, who lives at 1619 Briarwood Road, stopped at the entrance of his apartment complex to dispose of garbage bags at about 9:30 p.m., the police report said. His wife and three children – two 4-year-old boys and a 7-month-old boy – were inside their 2003 Chevy Tahoe.

A newer model, black Lexus SUV entered the apartment complex and approached the father. The first suspect, wearing a mask, got out of the vehicle and pointed a shotgun at him.

"You don't give me the car, I'm going to kill you and your family," the suspect said in Spanish.

The father handed over the keys, and his family was ordered out of the vehicle. The first suspect hopped in the Chevy and drove to Buford Highway, and two other suspects followed in the Lexus.

The victim told police he didn't get a good look at the second and third suspects who remained in the SUV.
