Brookhaven Celebrates National Night Out

Residents gathered in Briarwood Park and were joined by city police.

Members of Friends of Briarwood Park and other Brookhaven residents celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday at the park off Buford Highway.

Several Brookhaven police officers attended the event, which began at about 5:30 p.m. Residents, including District 3 City Councilman Bates Mattison, cooked burgers and hot dogs and socialized in the park's wooded surroundings.

National Night Out is a national grassroots campaign dedicated to crime prevention and police-community partnerships. Neighborhoods across the Atlanta metro area held events TuesdayΒ
