Ashford Park Hosting National Night Out Event

Local first responders are expected to attend an event in Ashford Park on Tuesday, August 7.

Even though the new city of Brookhaven will eventually have its own police force, DeKalb police are still set to participate in the Ashford Park Civic Association's National Night Out event.

The organization is sponsoring an ice cream social from 7-8:30 pm on August 7 to mark National Night Out. The event, to be held at Ashford Park, said representatives from the DeKalb police and fire departments, and possibly a Chamblee police official, are set to attend.

The 27th annual National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by DeKalb County Police Crime Awareness Units and Interactive Community Policing Units. The event involves over 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.  In all, over 35 million people are expected to participate in “America's Night Out against Crime.”
