Community Corner

Friends of Brookhaven Foundation

The Friends of Brookhaven Foundation is working in Brookhaven. Our mission is to foster a sense of community and enhance Brookhaven through civic involvement and fundraising.  Our foundation is non-partisan, non-profit, and has applied for 501(c)(3) status.

Our first goal is to save lives, by raising money to purchase 64 defibrillators for the Brookhaven Police Department patrol cars and city offices.  Our officers do not have these life-saving devices in their cars, and neither did the DeKalb PD.  But because time is of the essence when a person is in cardiac arrest – and police officers are typically the first on the scene – we think it is important to outfit our city’s officers.  Recent community efforts have provided defibrillators for law enforcement in Chamblee and Dunwoody.  And six lives have been saved as a result.  Each defibrillator costs about $1,000, so we are asking you to give generously.

It is a significant goal to reach for our young foundation and time is short. We want to present the AEDs for Brookhaven’s first anniversary on December 17th at Town Brookhaven.

We hope you will join the organizations, businesses and individuals who have already donated for AEDs. Our AED flyer gives a concise summary of this vital project. It is attached with this post. We are happy to provide any additional information about our foundation and our life-saving project.

Please go to www.friendsofbrookhaven.com to learn more about these life saving devices and to donate online.
