An Open Question For Jim Eyre

Mr. Eyre, Please explain yourself.

Mr. Eyre,

I received a mailer from your campaign yesterday stating that you are an " active volunteer" at Ashford Park Elementry. I would like to ask you to state here in public what active volunteer roles you take on at the school. Thank you.

Hmm. Kathie. Hi. How are you? Seem a bit angry. Are you going to ask the same question to Larry and Russell? Is this your attempt at being coy* (Definition below)? If you are trying to get support for Russell, you may want to try to find something other than community involvement to attack Jim on. Oh, BTW...thank you for providing a forum to help get Jim's credentials out there. They can be found at http://jimforbrookhaven.com/aboutjim.html Love Ya! ;) http://www.thefreedictionary.com/coy coy [kɔɪ] adj 1. Coy is my last name and a made up forum name, but I'm sure you knew that from the background check you did. Would you like my social security number and a drop of blood too. I'm not angry, just doing what I feel is right for the neighborhood I grew up in and love. I will ask both Russell and Larry the same question if they sent out a mailer saying they are active volunteers at AP School. As I am a VERY active parent in the school and I have never seen Jim there I am legitimately interested in the answer to this... good for Russell or not.

**ugh, NOT a made up forum name, typing is not my strongest skill.

Oh and I really hope one of those acts involves the trailers, I have SO much to say on that subject!

I no longer live in Brookhaven; however, I served as an active (almost daily) volunteer, a PTA officer, and a member of the school council during the period of August 2008 to May 2011. To my recollection, Mr. Eyre was not an "active volunteer" in any capacity during that period. He attended meetings that were open to the public.

Just for the record I have been a parent and PTA member at AP for 5 years, but really stepped up my volunteerism after my youngest started preschool in 2011.

HamBurger, perhaps you could clear this up about Jim's real credentials and levels of true activism? I understand you are VERY, VERY close to him.
Albie Alright October 19, 2012 at 06:19 PM
Phil, I plan to write you in for Mayor. You are so knowledgable and stately. Ill probably write Kathie in as well seeing as how she is so involved in her community...how could we ever live without you two? Gosh...you two are awesome. Fine Americans! I love you two soooo much!
HamBurger October 19, 2012 at 08:14 PM
Mr. Phil, since you have made ME your business why don’t you tell us all about HIM. Please pass the yellow mustard!

Albie - As I've met both Phil and Kathie I must agree with you that they are truly upstanding citizens. Both like to call a spade a spade and both have taken a lot of flack on the Patch over doing this. Kudos to both of them.
Corey Self October 20, 2012 at 01:58 AM
Dianna - I believe this was also the time during which the trailers were initially installed. I can recall some very heated and somewhat racially charged emails that went out to the community from Jim around that particular issue. Can you speak to his interaction with the school around the issue at all?

I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask any candidate to provide details on the information contained in campaign materials. If I were a candidate I would be pleased to know that the public was reading my material and thinking about it. I would very much like to know the answer to this question as well.
Grieg Ericsson October 22, 2012 at 11:33 AM
Russell and Larry are not active in their communities. So you will likely see nothing that promotes ANY civic involvement. Perhaps your question for them should be Why Not?
Let's Make Brookhaven Great October 22, 2012 at 06:35 PM
So why has Mr. Eyre or someone supporting him answered the question? What "active volunteer" positions has Mr. Eyre taken at Ashford Elementary? I have no doubt he has been a strong volunteer in other areas. Perhaps instead of attacking one should demonstrate their diplomacy and clarify the statement?
Eddie E. October 22, 2012 at 07:09 PM
Racially charged? Now that is certainly a stretch.
TomMiller October 22, 2012 at 07:41 PM
I read the note from Ms. Coy and did not get the sense that she was angry in the least, just asking a question. Why lie about something as minor as being a volunteer? It's not like the guy ran the PTA or held an office in that group or even chaired a committee. So why lie or overstate? Time for him to look up George O'Leary and his doctored up resume.
Eddie E. October 22, 2012 at 08:34 PM
On another note, was it mitchell's people or hurst's people that stole the 'EYRE' and 'HOLCOMB' signs out of my yard this morning?
Kathie " SOC" Coy October 24, 2012 at 02:02 AM
I have never laid a finger on any Jim sign... I bet my hand would burst into flames.
Kathie " SOC" Coy October 28, 2012 at 02:34 PM
Jim... are you going to answer the question? We had a meeting last week that was mandatory for all active volunteers and funny, I didn't see you there?
Kathie " SOC" Coy October 30, 2012 at 07:34 PM
Oh Jimmmmmmmmm? Maybe he doesn't read the Patch?
