I’ve always been fascinated with houses, even as a little girl. From doll houses, to building forts out of blankets and boxes, to treehouses and sheds - anything where you could “set up shop” and have your space.

Even now, I love my house but within my home, I love my office, my space. And that’s the kind of feeling people get when they think of real estate. It’s such a conversation topic. You never quite know what you are going to get and one day is never like the next.

It’s like a “box of chocolates” to borrow from Forrest Gump. What will this turn of the key bring us? I show houses almost every day and I’m always surprised, pleasantly or otherwise, with what I see on the other side of the front door. The first thing you think of is the condition. Will it match the front or completely impress me? Or alternatively, houses that are kept up outside but inside, haven’t been touched in 30 years. But there is a ALWAYS a story. Why are you selling, where are you going? How long did you live here and what did you do here? It’s a story you are buying when you buy a house and it’s a story you create when you turn the house into your HOME.

When you open a box of chocolates, you don’t know what you will get. Is it the caramel or nut or plain chocolate or dark? If you are like me, ANY chocolate is good chocolate! And it’s the same for real estate. I love the feeling of discovering the house someone else built, the way they designed the corners and the arches and the hallways.  The way it is decorated. The light that flows through. The adventure that a backyard can provide.

Don’t get me wrong, I have a job to do so I focus on the important aspects – is this a great investment that my client can resell when the time comes? But I have the privilege of being able to go along with their journey and live vicariously through them. I get to be a fly on the wall in someone’s house and learn about different upgrades, and finishes and styles. I have learned, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. But I’m also able to tell you when something is a “good buy” or a “flop.”

Let me know when you are ready to start that process and open your own box of chocolates. I’ll be here for you.
