Each year at the sponsored event, the Metro Atlanta YMCA bestows the title of “Volunteer of the Year” to acknowledge the success of volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the mission of one or more of the twenty-plus area YMCA centers and service locations in Atlanta metro.

“When I was contacted about this recognition, I was sure there was some mistake — so many volunteers accomplish so much for so many children through the YMCA. I was very humbled,” said Gokce, who is also a former member of the Brookhaven Commission.
