Brookhaven Tree Lighting Rescheduled; Race Canceled
Tree lighting, time capsule burial will be Wednesday; race is canceled.
Brookhaven's birthday celebration and race scheduled for Saturday are canceled because of forecasted rain, according to the city.
The tree lighting and time capsule burial are rescheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Blackburn Park, but the food trucks, race, live music and children’s activities remain canceled.
Registered runners will be reimbursed, and the city plans to host a race in the spring.

The city is still accepting time capsule submissions. Visit www.brookhavenga.gov for submission guidelines.
The formal birthday commemoration ceremony remains on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Town Brookhaven and is open to the public. Attendees can bring nonperishable food items that will be donated to a lfood pantry.
