Pink Pony Poll Sponsors To Host Mayor Davis And Councilman Gebbia For Informal “Roundtable” Discussion. Brookhaven Residents Want Answers.

Brookhaven, GA, October 14 - YOU’RE INVITED: On Wednesday, October 16th, Pink

Pony Opinion Poll sponsors will host Brookhaven’s Mayor J. Max Davis and

District 4 Councilman Joe Gebbia for an informal “roundtable” discussion, at

Villa Christina at 7:00 p.m.

Recently, concerned citizens and five Brookhaven HOA’s sponsored a telephone poll regarding the impending litigation between the city of Brookhaven and the Pink Pony. The sponsor’s objective was to find out exactly where the community stood on this issue.

The results of the poll can be found here:
http://tinyurl.com/lq3lu5q

The two key findings are:

  1. 62% of residents do not feel the city’s actions represent the will of the people.
  2. 75% of residents want the city to settle the lawsuit

    with the Pink Pony.
These numbers represent a clear directive from the community – not a mixed message.  The challenge facing Brookhaven residents and those that sponsored the poll is the city’s perceived lack of response to the poll and lack of outreach regarding an important issue to the community.  The bigger, underlying issue is that many citizens currently feel that this is just one example of how the “will of city officials” somehow trumps the “will of the people of the city”.  It is important to remember that the main motivation for creating the New City of Brookhaven was to bring decisions back to the citizens that live and work here.

The Good News

J.Max is listening and he welcomes a

discussion with the community.

We (the sponsors of the poll) have organized an evening with Mayor J. Max Davis and councilman Joe Gebbia to discuss this issue and begin a dialogue.  Your attendance is important.  If we want our city government to be a responsive government, we need to be a responsive community. It’s that simple.

Please join us for this informal “roundtable” discussion.  Everyone is invited and you are strongly encouraged to spread the word and forward this email to friends and neighbors in Brookhaven.  All we ask of attendees is that everyone be courteous and respectful of those with opposing opinions.

This promises to be a positive, upbeat and enriching experience for everyone.  As a new city, we (residents and city officials) are all learning and figuring things out as we go.  Mistakes will be made along the way.  What matters is that we learn from them and that we clearly and consistently communicate with each other – in a forum where everyone feels heard, and a meaningful, productive dialogue can take place. That is what this all about.
