Free Fermentation Workshop & Culture Exchange With Fermentation On Wheels

If you haven’t heard of Fermentation on Wheels – you should. Because not only are they educating thenation about traditional foodways and probiotic goodness, but they’re doing it on a retrofitted vintage schoolbus! Doesn’t get much cooler than that.

Tara Whitsitt of Fermentation on Wheels will discuss starter cultures, including sourdough starter, kefir, and kombucha. Attendees may bring cultures of their own for exchange and discussion as well as bring an empty jar and take a culture home from the workshop. Tara will also teach & prepare a wild ferment with seasonal Atlanta ingredients. Workshops are free and open to the public and kids of all ages are welcome. If you would like to take home a culture, please bring a $1 donation.

*Plus, be sure to stick around after the workshop to celebrate The Homestead Atlanta’s first birthday with some live old timey music, farm-to-table snacks and more! Let us know you’re coming via Eventbrite or Facebook – and we can’t wait to see you there!*

More about Fermentation on Wheels: Fermentation on Wheels is a community from Eugene, OR that provides free food education and inspires people through workshops, literature, and visual arts projects that raise food awareness and teach fermentation. The community organizes potlucks and teaches fermentation in a school bus that has been converted into a creative kitchen and workshop space. They are now touring the United States, harvesting produce alongside small-scale farmers and holding workshops on the importance of fermentation and micro-agriculture. To learn more or get involved, visit theirwebsite or Facebook page.
