Class Descriptions

Creative Dramatics (Ages 3-5)

Students will develop their confidence and creativity by exploring
physical choices and unique ways to express themselves while acting out
characters and story lines from children's books and fairy tales. Fun
theater games, music, puppetry, crafts, and other creative activities
will help students learn to express themselves artistically while
working as a team and having fun! Students will perform a short play
based on the books "Make Way for Ducklings" and "Go, Dog, Go!" for
parents at the end of each semester.Β

Musical Theatre (ages 6-12)

Students will learn
warm-ups, play theatre games, receive training in acting technique,
vocal skills, choreography, and theatre etiquette and terminology while
rehearsing selections from "Aladdin" and "Willy Wonka." Fun theatre
games and exercises will be used to promote physical and spatial
awareness, teamwork, and confidence and the class will conclude with a
showcase performance for family and friends!

Playbuilding (ages 8-12)

Students will work together
to create an original play based on a concept, song, lyric, book, or
fairy tale. We'll learn about play structure, character development,
conflict, theme, and story arcs. Using theatre games, acting and vocal
exercises, and character-building creative play we'll work together to
write, rehearse, and stage our own show. It starts with a story but who
knows where it will go?

Each play will be submitted to the Young Voices with New Visions youth
playwriting festival. If chosen as a winner by YVWNV, the play will be
performed by professional actors at a theatre in downtown Atlanta.
