UPDATE: How Would You Rename Chamblee Plaza?

Trinity Development released a statement regarding the name and the shopping center Wednesday.

UPDATE [8:58 a.m.]: Trinity Development spokesman David Andersen released the following statement Wednesday morning:

At this stage of redevelopment, it’s really less about a name, and more about executing on a vision to transform a neglected, 50 year old shopping center, back into a vibrant city center that will connect people with local businesses.

Nobody is better invested in a successful transformation than TRINITY Development Group, not only for their purchase of the center last year, but more importantly, because they’re Chamblee based, and intend to maintain ownership and manage this property after successfully executing on our vision.

The new name is a play on the City of Chamblee name (ChamBLEE), and TRINITY’s intent for Broad Street, a historical/main corridor in Chamblee, to extend across Peachtree Boulevard into the newly designed retail and entertainment center.

This is all about providing an eclectic mix of retail shops and unique chef-driven restaurants in an atmosphere with extensive landscaping, a pocket park with water features, head-in parking, walking paths and new outparcels, created with Green Construction Initiatives.

When this vision is successfully executed, the center will take on its own definition as a popular public gathering place with broad, multi-generational appeal.

FIRST POST:
Chamblee Plaza's redeveloper announced last week that it planned to rename the shopping center The Blee on Broad.

The response online, both on Patch and across social media, was overwhelmingly negative.

The company, Trinity Development Group, added shortly thereafter that the name would actually be The Blee on Broad Street, acknowledging the street that runs perpendicular to the shopping center and intersects with Peachtree Boulevard.

When asked Tuesday what the company plans to do in response to local residents' opinions about the name, Trinity spokesman Dave Andersen declined comment.

So, Patch asks, if you were tasked with renaming Chamblee Plaza, what would you name it? Tell us in the comments section below.
