Peace Corps Author To Speak At Brookhaven Rotary

The Rotary Club of Brookhaven resumes weekly meetings and welcomes guest speaker Jessica Bodiford.


Jessica Bodiford, author of "The Village Idiot: The True Stories of a Peace Corps Volunteer," will be the guest speaker at Wednesday's meeting of the Rotary Club of Brookhaven.

Bodiford, who is currently the Corporate Volunteerism manager for Hands on Atlanta, wrote her book based on her experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in the African country of Togo from 2003 to 2005.

She focused on using theatre, which she has her bachelor's degree in, as a means of educating communities about the importance of girls going to school. One of her productions was even seen by America's ambassador to Togo.

She's also written a radio play about her experiences called "Peace Corps Noire Americaine" for the Atlanta Fringe Festival.
