Brookhaven Crews Busy with Storm Cleanup

Trees are down in more than 10 places, city officials said.

A large tree on Peachtree Road next to Oglethorpe University rests on a power line and is dangerously close to falling. DeKalb police responded and closed the road while they wait for Georgia Power. Commuters can expect heavy traffic delays.

Brookhaven does not have jurisdiction over Peachtree Road, which is a state route. At 8:30 a.m., the city contacted the Georgia Department of Transportation, which is working with DeKalb police.

Before anything further can be done, Georgia Power must address the power lines to ensure the area is safe.
