Visions for Vacancies: What Should Take the Place of the former Hastings?

An occasional feature where we ask readers to use their imaginations to discuss community development.

The location of what used to be Hastings Nature and Garden Center, now in Peachtree Corners, holds much meaning and nostalgia for Brookhaven neighbors. The once picturesque property adorned by foliage and flowers, suddenly resembles something from an old western film.Β

If you could forget that zoning regulations exists and pretend that the Brookhaven LCI could bend to your will, what would you put on this property?

Welcome to the first in a continuing series of articles themed Visions for Vacancies making its debut by featuring the now vacant property at 3920 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 - the former home of Hastings Nature and Garden Center.

In August 2011, Hastings relocated to 3420 Woodhill Drive in Peachtree Corners, following its announcement that it developed a new and unique retail concept that required new construction and additional space. The space remains vacant.

In the coming weeks, we want to know your thoughts about what you would like to see in the empty spaces in your community? What would be the best use for the community? Or, if you think you have an inside tip on a vacancy, tell us.
