Universal Tennis Academy to Offer Free Kids Instruction

Universal Tennis Academy, in conjunction with Brookhaven’s Food Truck Roundup, will offer free tennis activities on a few of the recently renovated courts for children four years of age and older who live in the city.

The fun and games are part of Universal Tennis Academy’s commitment to the newly formed City of Brookhaven. The carnival-like atmosphere will introduce children to the sport of tennis under the direction of the Universal Tennis Academy’s professional coaching staff. The fun and games will occur on Wednesdays between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 25.

Interested families should bring their children to Blackburn Tennis Center where dozens of children will get exposure to the game of tennis. The first 30 children who participate in the fun and games will receive a free Universal Tennis Academy T-shirt. Please have participating kids in appropriate footwear such as tennis shoes.

Universal Tennis Academy will furnish everything children need to get a taste of tennis. In addition to the complimentary instruction being offered, families can enjoy the many food trucks at Blackburn during the new food-truck initiative that the City of Brookhaven is now offering through October on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Universal Tennis Academy offers the highest level of tennis programs using the Quick Start Program as a tool to teach young players proper tennis fundamentals. The program allows players to play the game of tennis at an earlier stage of development through a systematic progression of scaled rackets, modified balls and court sizes. Universal Tennis has developed junior tennis players into touring professionals, NCAA Champions and National Junior Gold Ball Winners. 

They have sent more than 150 juniors to compete at the collegiate level. Universal Tennis Academy manages seven different tennis centers located in and around the Atlanta metro area, including Blackburn Tennis Center in Brookhaven, DeKalb Tennis Center in Decatur, Sharon E. Lester at Piedmont Park, Chastain Park, Bitsy Grant Tennis Center, McGee Tennis Center and Washington Park Tennis Center all located in Atlanta.
