'Sharing Economy' Giant Co-Founder to Headline Chamber Weekend

Joe Gebbia Jr. of Airbnb will headline the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce's Experience Innovation 2013 Weekend next month.

Joe Gebbia Jr., co-founder and CPO of San Francisco-based Airbnb, will headline the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce’s Experience Innovation 2013 Weekend on Sept. 6-7 at the Marriott at Century Center. He will join other technology leaders in discussing the potential of the new people-to-people economy. The event is open to the public and tickets are on sale now at www.experienceinnovation.eventbrite.com.

Gebbia, son of the District 4 city councilman, will share advice for entrepreneurs and business leaders through his own experience launching and growing Airbnb, the giant online marketplace for sharing homes and spaces he and his co-founders created in 2008. Today, Airbnb is a $2.5 billion company used by an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 people each night and the keystone of the emerging "sharing economy."

Experience Innovation 2013 Weekend kicks off Friday night, Sept. 6, with a VIP Reception with Gebbia at 5:30 p.m. and his keynote at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 7, Gebbia will also join a brunch and panel of local and statewide technology and economic development experts from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Panelists include: Technology Association of Georgia President and CEO Tino Mantella, Interdev CEO Gary Nichols, Brookhaven City Council Member (District 3) Bates Mattison and NAI Brannen Goddard Managing Director Stephen Proctor. Brookhaven Chamber Program Director J.D. Clockadale will moderate the panel. The topic will be the emergence of the Perimeter and Georgia as a hotbed for IT growth.

Sept. 7 will also feature a showcase of the latest technology innovations by local firms from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A limited number of exhibit space and sponsorships are currently available.
