New Delivery Platform to Contract Hundreds of ATL Drivers

Midtown-based Kanga, a crowdsourced delivery platform launching in late March, has announced plans to hire numerous delivery drivers—with more than 100 specifically assigned to retail businesses—in the Atlanta area over the next six months.

The platform works by allowing consumers or retail establishments to place a delivery order through an app, which quickly prompts local, vetted drivers to bid for and provide delivery service. Kanga pays its drivers directly through the app using a Paypal account.

“We’re looking for drivers who are safe and who own reliable vehicles,” Everett Steele, Kanga president and co-founder, said in a news release. “But we also want to attract people who are entrepreneurial by nature and understand the flexible and unique job opportunity that our technology provides.”

Kanga requires qualified drivers to have car insurance and a vehicle that complies with state laws. Drivers associated with Kanga’s retail partnerships must complete a more extensive vetting process and will be paid a flat fee plus mileage. The company will offer these drivers the highest per hour earning of any of its competitors.

“Drivers can create their own schedule and availability as they choose, giving them total flexibility as to when and how they earn money,” Steele continued. “The total number of drivers we hire in Atlanta and in new markets we enter will correlate directly with demand. Looking ahead to our strategic growth plans, we are excited about the number of jobs we will be creating.”

Leveraging crowdsourcing, one of the fastest growing business trends adopted by large- and small-scale companies alike, Kanga seeks to disrupt the $86 billion courier and local delivery service industry.

The start-up recently closed its seed round funding, which will be used to open its mobile application and delivery platform to consumers. To date, the company received $1 million in funding, fueling the development of its mobile technology and launch in Atlanta.
