Local Dentist Participating In Halloween Candy Buy Back

If you get too much candy on Halloween night, here's a worthwhile cause that would appreciate any excess goodies.

So let's say you (and/or your kids) go way overboard on Halloween night, trick or treating all over Brookhaven ... and Chamblee ... and DeKalb County ... and the city of Atlanta. You get - and eat - way, way, waaay too much candy, to the point where the mere thought of consuming said goodies anytime in the near future causes extreme nausea.

Don't know what to do? Well, here's a solution: a Buford Highway dental practice is participating in a Halloween candy national buyback program, for the benefit of U.S. troops overseas.

Siegel and Dolt Comprehensive Dental Care, at 2751 Buford Hwy, is one of several metro area dental practices participating in the national program.

Here's how it works:

  • Participating dentists "buy" back kids' Halloween candy at a scheduled event.
  • Dentists send the candy to Operation Gratitude or other military support groups.
  • Operation Gratitude sends the candy to U.S. troops deployed in harm's way.

Now, it's up to the dentist to decide how the practice buys back your candy. It could be with cash, coupons, toothbrushes or other exchanges. But the goal is to provide Operation Gratitude with material for 60,000 care packages that will be sent over the coming holiday season.
