Take in a weekend of beer, art, Oglethorpe history and the blessing of the animals in and around Brookhaven.
Friday
Ashford Park School Foundation OKTOBERFEST
This fundraiser includes an evening of food, a selection of beer, wine, specialty cocktails and fun to celebrate "OKTOBERFEST." Proceeds will benefit the Ashford Park School Education Foundation, a charitable organization raising funds and providing resources for student enrichment programs at Ashford Park Elementary School in Brookhaven.
When: 6 p.m.

Cost: Tickets are $75 and will be available at the door or on the Foundation's website, www.ashfordparkschool.com.

Saturday
Ninth Annual Brookhaven Arts Festival
Artwork from more than 125 vendors, including many local artists and others from the southeast region, will be featured at this year's festival. There will also have live music, food, and activities for children including an area where they can create their own artwork.
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, 11 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Apple Valley Road, directly behind the Brookhaven MARTA Station
Cost: Free, but bring cash to purchase food, arts and crafts
Oglethorpe Fall Festival and Taste of Oglethorpe
Try food from 11 local vendors at the Taste of Oglethorpe or take one of the historic walking tours led by Paul Hearst. You can head to the Oglethorpe Museum of Art and peruse the Burden of Proof: National Identity and the Legacy of War exhibit, which explores the juxtaposition of the American and Vietnamese experience of the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The festival includes tons of family activities, too!

DECA Picnic
The annual DECA picnic is back! DECA will supply pulled pork, fixins and drinks. We ask that each household bring a side dish or dessert to share with everyone. This is a kid and family-friendly event. In addition to food, there will be entertainment and various lawn games. Bring a chair or blanket and stay awhile!
When: noon to 4 p.m.

Sunday
Blessing of the Animals
MJCCA's Rabbi Brian Glusman along with several other community rabbis will be offering blessings for living pets and a special prayer will be said in memory of pets that have died. Participants are invited to bring their well-behaved and leashed or caged pets of all varieties for the event. Food from Goodfriend's mobile grill will be available for purchase.
When: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
