Progress Made on Clack's Corner Neighborhood Park

The Brookhaven Fields Civic Association has raised more than $30,000 for park improvements.

The Brookhaven Fields Civic Association raised $30,000 to make improvements for the new Clack's Corner neighborhood park in less than two years - a significant milestone that paid for much-needed sprinkler installation and a new drip irrigation system.

Meredith O'Conner, chairperson for the Clack's Corner Park committee  said the Clack family also donated $10,000 and helped with working with Dekalb County to bring the Clack's Corner plans to fruition.

The park was the dream of former Brookhaven Fields resident Howard Clack who lived in a house on the property until his death in 2006. DeKalb County purchased the land to be used as a park, but private money had to be used for the park's 'installation'.

O'Connor said after the installations, $7,500 remains for fall projects, which will help pay for a park sign and its installation this year.

The next park project is the “Brick by Brick” campaign to sell 80 more bricks by Labor Day that will enable the team to install Clack's brick pathway.  The goals is to sell 200 bricks, 120 of which have already been sold.
