Patch Watch: Windsor/Hermance Followup

We also have news coming out of Chamblee.

OK, so we're not going to take credit for any of this, but a Patch reader sent us this photo Monday morning.

Last week, we featured as being a spot that could use a little maintenance and care. Well, looks like someone (and we don't know if it was DeKalb County or one of the many dedicated and selfless volunteers who reside throughout Brookhaven Patch) did some major grass cutting and cleanup since then.

Also, Chamblee Mayor Eric Clarkson tipped us off on this item. Seems as if the city's public works crews have been hard at work on the sidewalks on Harts Mill Road, from the city limits all the way up to Chamblee-Dunwoody Road.

Since we don't have any "before" shots, it's hard to tell any progress, but these "after" shots we took this week show the sidewalks in really great shape.

Before their recent annexation of the rest of Chamblee Dunwoody Road inside 285 the City of Chamblee built sidewalks on both sides of the entire distance of Chamblee-Dunwoody road that was in their boundary. In 20 years DeKalb County has not built one foot of sidewalk on Chamblee Dunwoody inside 285. And in a developing story DeKalb has done even worse, they have unilaterally waived negotiated zoning conditions that would have required developers to build certain sections of sidewalks on this portion of Chamblee Dunwoody. Lesson? If sidewalks on major roads in the community makes sense then you should like being in a City.

Chamblee did not build sidewalks outside of their city before they annexed.

"Enuff Govt Already 3:51 pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 Chamblee did not build sidewalks outside of their city before they annexed." I know that's why I said they built them inside their boundary.

mea culpa...my apologizes to you sir...I misread your post. I think the "before their recent annexation" sent me elsewhere...

No problem and thanks Enuff, I've certainly had my share of misreading of posts and numbers.
