Oglethorpe University Goes Mobile

With new smartphone app, this editor realized that students are on Spring Break.

If you're a fan of the Stormy Petrels, and here in Brookhaven we'd like to think that you are, you're going to love its newest venture announced this week on blog.

"With the new MOX Mobile Access, now you can stay connected to Oglethorpe with a smart phone application created specifically with the Stormy Petrel in mind.  With MOX Mobile Access, you can  access all the important information you need—maps, events, news, telephone numbers and more—right in the palm of your hand," the blog touts.

So, of course, I downloaded it.

Don't be confused, there's no Oglethorpe Application. You must download MOX first, then select Oglethorpe as your school of choice.

Once this was done - which took about a minute - I was overwhelmed with an abundance of events on the athletic events calendar. It also provides important access to all the school's important phone numbers from the president's office to admissions to the alumni office. This awesome feature also displays news from Oglethorpe's blog, Athletics and the school's live Twitter feed.

The MOX mobile app is available for Blackberry, Android, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users.  To download MOX, visit the MOX webpage and click the link appropriate for your mobile device.  After downloading the application, select Oglethorpe University from the university list.

Thanks to this application, I quickly learned that OU students are on Spring Holiday.

See, it's working already.
