New Brookhaven Patch Editor Takes the Reins

I'm your new Brookhaven Patch editor, and I'm ready to dig right in and give you the news you care about in Brookhaven and Chamblee.

Well, hello there, Brookhaven. And you, too, Chamblee. I'm Kiri (first I is long), and I am so excited to be your new Patch editor. This community is filled with so much news and is tons of fun. I think we're going to like each other!

So, I'll tell you a little about myself.

I've lived in the South my entire life, grew up in Nashville and earned a bachelor's in journalism from the University of Florida.

For the last two years, I called Cobb County home. There, I covered the Cobb communities of Mableton and Austell as the South Cobb Patch editor. It was an amazing experience growing a news website from scratch and becoming a resource for this community that I grew to love and know like the back of my hand.

Before that, I was writing for another hyperlocal news site in Brentwood, TN, after I graduated with my master's from the University of Alabama's Knight Foundation Fellowship for Community Journalism. In that program, I dove head first into hyperlocal reporting as a reporter at The Anniston Star and I loved it! I've worked for various news publications and magazines throughout the South during my journalism career.

As a journalist, being able to report on a community as it transforms itself to a city is pretty exciting. I want to continue to build on the great foundation of Brookhaven Patch, built by Stephanie Arnold and Tim Darnell.

Remember, Brookhavenites (or Brookhavenians?), this is your site. It's your place to post your community events or to announce your wedding or your church's picnic or to even just post your thoughts and concerns in the comments or as a blog post on the site.

If you see me around, at community meetings or most likely munching on a cupcake at The Cup or Sugar Shack or subsequently at L.A. Fitness at Town Brookhaven, please don't hesitate to say hello and tell me what's on your mind.

Of course, you can always just shoot me an email anytime at brookhaven@patch.com.
