Here are some important upcoming dates and events for Brookhaven residents:

The Drew Valley Civic Association is holding its summer meeting Thursday, July 14, at 7 pm, at Clairmont Baptist Church, 3542 Clairmont Road. Davis Fox, a representative from DeKalb Commissioner Kathie Gannon's office, will be the guest speaker.

Ashford Community Alliance will host its Community 101 Series, Neighborhood Safety on Wednesday, July 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Merrill Gardens, 1460 S. Johnson Ferry Road NE

DeKalb County Police's North Precinct will be discussing its new Volunteers in Police Services program on Saturday July 16, from 10am - 1pm at the Dekalb Fire Rescue Building, 1950 W. Exchange Place in Tucker. Al Fowler, community relations coordiator, said other topics will include summer pet safety and crime awareness watch maintenance.

The Ashford Park PTA budget and finance committee will have a meeting next Tuesday, July 19 at 7:30pm at the Shea residence, 2961 Ringle Road, 30341.

Fall baseball registration is still going on at Murphey Candler Little League, but it will only continue through July 31. This year's fall baseball program now includes T-Ball for rising 5 year olds. The registration fee for players 6 and above is $150 for DeKalb residents. The registration fee for players age 5 who play in the T-Ball program is $100 for DeKalb residents.

Fall baseball at Murphey Candler is a weekend activity, with all events taking place at Murphey Candler Park. Teams practice on Saturdays and play games on Sunday afternoons. Practices will start in mid August, games start in late August and the season is over at the end of October. The schedule typically includes nine or 10 games.
