Local Civic Organization Releases Brookhaven Annexation Survey Results

Survey remains available until April 15.

More Brookhaven and unincorporated DeKalb County residents would rather remain in Dekalb County than annex with another city or become its own community, according to preliminary survey results released by the Ashford Alliance Community Association.

The survey, administered by Survey Monkey, included eight questions that ranged from polling residents’ opinions on county services to the appropriate way to introduce the topic of annexation or incorporation.

More than 40 percent of the 215 people who responded would rather remain in DeKalb County. More than 57 percent believe that the State should not be allowed to annex a community despite its unique needs.

The survey, according to the association’s president Scott Saulson, is preliminary due to the rate of response and the number of unduplicated responses being high. Board members have reported that not all civic and homeowner associations have been polled thus far, the survey will remain available through April 15 and final results will be made available to the public on April 16.
