Historic Brookhaven Breaks Ground for Entrance Monuments

The Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association and the Historic Brookhaven Foundation broke ground Monday to commemorate the start of construction of two entrance monuments at the corner of Brookhaven Drive and Peachtree Road. The association is planning to erect entrance monuments at all perimeter entrances to the neighborhood - approximately 13 locations in total.

The monuments are funded by contributions from the residents of the neighborhood with matching funds from the Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association.

The construction of these monuments will incorporate conduit and enclosures to allow the future installation of CCTV security cameras for neighborhood security enhancements. The Brookhaven Security Association is currently evaluating the installation of a CCTV system that will record all traffic passing through this street entrance into the neighborhood, and in the case of an emergency, may be activated by Law Enforcement for live monitoring if needed. 

The Historic Brookhaven Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt organization. All contributions for this project are charitable tax deductable donations for the benefit of public and community improvement.

Historic Brookhaven is a neighborhood founded in 1910 as one of the first planned suburban golf course communities in the US, and the neighborhood is a registered with the National Historic Register as being a community of historic value. The community includes approximately 900 homes located in both the city of Atlanta and unincorporated DeKalb County.
