Dekalb County has respected our request to open the Rec Center for an experimental weekend to gauge interest. Thank you Roy Wilson!

Briarwood Park and Rec Center is opening Saturday, Sept. 15th, 10-2 pm. Friends of Briarwood Park is going to compliment that opening with a Weed Wacker Day. We will work  8-1 pm. Bring your kids. They can play basketball while we work. There are three small focuses for the day.

  • Spray Round up on the perimeter of both forested areas and the driveway entrance North of the Park Intersection

  • Mow the lawn at the main Park Entrance

  • Cut the vines on the large beautiful trees in both forested areas. We will finish the job next Spring after the vines are dead.

Please bring one gallon Round up extended stay weed killer and limb loppers. Friends of Briarwood Park will provide the lawnmower, blower and bags.

The Friends of Briarwood Park leadership will give detailed instructions on all three phases of the “done in a day” projects. Please wear appropriate clothing as we expect to encounter Poison Ivy, Chiggers and Ticks (i.e. long sleeve shirts, pants, gloves, hats and DEET, etc.) We will assemble at the sign in area in front of the Rec Center before we start for instructional direction.

Thanks so much for your interest in Briarwood Park and Rec Center. Please RSVP with Chad Boles (chad.boles@comcast.net). Go Briarwood Bulldogs.
