Brookhaven's Whiz Kid: Sutton Feaster

Sutton Feaster finished up her pre-k year at Ashford Park with 3 very specific goals in mind for the summer, and has accomplished them all with time to spare!

These goals, which are definitely lofty in nature for a young child, included riding her bike without training wheels, swimming a full lap of the pool and learning to read. 

"She accomplished learning to ride her bike in an evening, started reading in the first few weeks of summer and has gotten in a few freestyle laps with minimal stops," said her mom, Katrienne Feaster. "We were not so confident on the bike part, but we quickly learned that her determination sometimes wins over her coordination!"

Her interest in reading stemmed from a desire to participate in the "Outside at Ashford Park School's Read-a-thon", where she collected pledges from neighbors and families based on her goal of reading 20 books this summer, and is already 3/4 of the way there, having finished 16 books so far. The money she is raising will help support a new playground at Ashford Park Elementary.

Sutton also enjoys camping, gymnastics and playing with (and teaching) her little brother.

"Sutton is incredibly determined and she is very eager to learn, but also balances that by enjoying the outdoors and playing hard, making her our special little girl," Katrienne Feaster said.
