Town Brookhaven to Host Allstate Atlanta 13.1 Marathon Oct. 6

Town Brookhaven to host Half Marathon and Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K

With 25 days to go, there’s still time for runners to register

US Road Sports & Entertainment Group (USRS), owners and operators of the Miami Marathon, Publix Georgia Marathon, Salt Lake City Marathon, Palm Beaches Marathon, New Jersey Marathon and the Allstate Life Insurance℠ 13.1 Marathon® Series, are making final preparations to host the Allstate Life Insurance℠ Atlanta 13.1 Marathon® and Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K.  The events will take place in Town Brookhaven, 4330 Peachtree Rd, NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 on Sunday, October 6, beginning at 7 a.m. ET.

The course encompasses Town Brookhaven in Atlanta's Brookhaven community, situated on Peachtree Road, north of Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza, and borders the historic Oglethorpe University.

The event promotes health and wellness and partners with several charity organizations that have runners for a cause. Participants of all skill levels have the opportunity to improve their physical and mental health and accomplish life-altering goals while having fun. The event is family-oriented and includes a kid-friendly 5K course.

Teaming up with this year’s 5K race will be Hyundai Hope On Wheels. Its mission is to raise awareness for childhood cancer, donate life-saving research funds and celebrate the lives of children affected by the disease. Additionally, the program provides grants to eligible institutions nationwide pursuing innovative pediatric cancer research.

With the purchase of every new Hyundai, owners join Hyundai and its dealers in the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1998, Hyundai owners have helped donate more than $72 million in research grants towards a cure.

The Allstate Life Insurance℠ Atlanta 13.1 Marathon® is also walker friendly. The course will remain open for 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 minute/mile pace).  More information can be found at http://www.131marathon.com/Atlanta/

Remaining 2013 Allstate Life Insurance℠ 13.1 Marathon® Series races include – Dallas - October 26: features a dramatic downtown start amongst the “all hat and all cattle” iconic Big D skyline; and Fort Lauderdale - November 10: offers an amazing sunrise on a scenic and friendly course with a start near Port Everglades and the Broward Convention Center. 

Upcoming 2014 Allstate Life Insurance℠ 13.1 Marathon® Series races include – Miami Beach – March 2:  Runners will take the scenic route of South Beach with a start on famous Ocean Drive and a beautiful beach side finish; New York – March 22:  will be run within historic Flushing Meadows Corona Park, home of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, and begins in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium;  Chicago – June 7:  runners will enjoy the South Side of Chicago with a beautiful course that starts and finishes at the South Shore Cultural Center and runs right along Lake Michigan.

At the end of its 15th year, Hyundai Hope On Wheels will have awarded more than $72 million towards childhood cancer research in pursuit of a cure.
