Hyundai Hope On Wheels 5K: Check Presentation and Handprint Ceremony

Teaming up with this year’s 5K race is Hyundai Hope On Wheels®. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit is committed to finding a cure for pediatric cancer. The organization, funded primarily by Hyundai Motor America and its more than 800 U.S. dealers, provides grants to eligible institutions pursuing innovative pediatric cancer research. It also celebrates the lives of brave children battling cancer by capturing their handprints as a symbol of hope.

With the purchase of every new Hyundai, owners join Hyundai Motor America and its dealers in the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1998, Hyundai owners have helped donate more than $72 million in research grants towards a cure.

Hope On Wheels will present two grants to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at the event totaling $325,000. CHOA will also receive a portion of the race proceeds from the 5K event. The final amount donated will be announced following the race with a check ceremony presentation to the representatives of CHOA. Additionally, there will be a handprint ceremony allowing patients battling cancer to dip their hands in colorful paint and place their handprints on a white 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport – the official vehicle of Hope On Wheels.
