Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Win Tickets to 'The Princess and the Goblin'

Treat your special someone to a pre-Valentine’s night at the Atlanta Ballet.

UPDATE: Readers, this contest has closed. Congratulations to winners Kate Leduc and Courtney Layfield. We hope you enjoy a wonderful night at the ballet! -- Patch

The Atlanta Ballet and Patch want to offer you and your sweetie a special night out.

We are giving away two pairs of tickets to the world premiere of Twyla Tharp’s The Princess and the Goblin.

The performance, which will include 13 children from the Atlanta Ballet’s Centre for Dance Education, will be at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre

Tharpe is a world-renowned dancer and choreographer whose honors include a Tony Award, two Emmy Awards and a Kennedy Center Honor.

She spent 10 weeks working with the Atlanta Ballet over the summer to create the dance, which will include an original score performed live by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.

It takes only a moment to enter this contest. All you have to do is post a comment at the bottom of this article. We’d love just a sentence or two from you telling us about the one thing you’d like to see on Patch that we don’t already offer.

We’ll conduct a random drawing from these entries for The Princess and the Goblin performance on Feb. 10.

Winners will be notified by email and can pick up their tickets at Will Call the day of the show. Winners will need to have photo ID to claim the tickets.

For more details about the performance, check out the website for the Atlanta Ballet.

One last note: You must get your entry in by noon on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

I used to do community theater; and along the lines of this contest I'm certain the surrounding theaters could always use a little bit of advertisement / reviews of upcoming shows. We have a great theater not too far from Peachtree Corners in the Lionheart, and several other surrounding ones. At least a calender of events would be highly useful.

Thanks Vanz! I guess I'd need it consolidated then; as a member of the Peachtree Corners community we don't have as much of an incentive to visit the other Patch communities. It'd be nice if the various "patches" in Gwinnett would make a shared calender of events for surrounding communities... for instance, I love the free summer concert series in downtown Norcross, and would like to be informed when those come through.

I'd like to see something taken away, as opposed to added. The volunteer section has many listing of old events, and that takes away from the listings of organizations that have ongoing needs. Perhaps that section can be updated? Also, it would be nice if that area of the website was promoted a bit more. Thanks!

I want those tickets too ;-) I read the patch more often than I actually read the newspaper, for the pure fact that you highlight the top stories as well as include the good news and happenings that our local newspaper sometime miss. The only thing I would enjoy seeing more of is follow up stories, for example, when you do an article on someone with an illness or someone local that has been charged with a crime, just do a follow up story to let us know the update of the person, or the outcome of a trial. I know it would be impossible to do them all, so maybe do follow up stories on the stories that had the most comments. thanks!!

I really enjoy the Patch and that my local Patch is cross-linked to others with more details on particular stories. What happened to the daily video that gave a great snippet on several stories? Also, I would like to see a bit more on what's going on in the area, with some highlights from other neighborhoods. Perhaps it could be arranged by category so readers can skip activities for seniors if that doesn't apply to them, or skip the activities for kids rather than having to scroll through everything if you add more information. I'd love to take my daughter to see this performance! Thanks for the great resource.

I've got three boys under 5 and we love parks and nature exploring, as well. We live OTP, so here are some of my local favorites: the Dunwoody Nature Center (free year-round!) is a wonderful place to visit anytime and also offers great programs, Morgan Falls Overlook Park (Sandy Springs) has a great view and hiking trails, Thrasher Park (downtown Norcross) has trains and great climbing trees, and Garrard Landing park (East Roswell) has nice river views and gravel trails for exploring.

I'd love to write articles about all the fun parks and places I've visited with our boys (if any editors are reading this.) :) We have friends we visit all over the city (Smyrna has great parks, too) and LOVE the botanical gardens, the zoo, etc., but I think those places are well known. A list of the top-rated local parks, especially in this economy, could be quite useful!

I was trying to remember your last name, I posted about it on missed connections on Craigslist. Thought you might check it cause you said you frequented casual encounters. She loves ballet :) My one suggestion would be to have a section for job openings.. I'm a nurse and to see and hear about the tough times that people are having job hunting and its scary. I think the more jobs we post the more we will fill. It's really a tough and competitive time out there for jobs and I hope for everyones sake that we can come together and find some jobs so they aren't wondering where the next meal for their family is going to come from!

A regular column on APS school events upcoming - listings for meetings, performances, awards days. A picture of kids doing something positive for the area could accompany this piece each week. People love to see pictures of their child, and kids get a thrill from seeing their name mentioned. Would result in the article being forwarded to family members, and would encourage civic involvement/volunteering from children who seek recognition.

Shameless plug... :-))

If there are any Patch sites around the metro area that are needing a weather blog... I'm available! I currently post on about 8 Patch sites in Gwinnett and Walton Counties but I cover weather from Georgia to the entire US and beyond. What effects me in Gwinnett pretty much effects all of us the same way no matter where you live in metro Atlanta.

You can visit one of my blogs here: http://dacula.patch.com/users/daculaweather/blog_posts
and visit my website here:
http://www.daculaweather.com.

I have more than 1500 pages of weather related information (more than any website in the southeast) and multiple meteorologists that I'm in direct contact with so I'm always able to bring you the latest and most accurate weather information before it occurs.
