Williams Endorsed By Cole In District 1 Race

Alan Cole was one of several candidates who sought election on Nov. 6.

Brookhaven city council district 1 candidate Rebecca Chase Williams was endorsed on Monday by Alan Cole, who missed making the Dec. 4 runoff himself by 50 votes.

Kevin Fitzpatrick came in second in the race. He garnered 19 percent of the vote, to Williams' 45 percent.

“Rebecca Chase Williams is the best choice for our new city and I offer my full endorsement of her campaign,” Cole said.

“I’m gratified by Alan’s support, and really appreciate his offers for direct, active support of my runoff efforts,” said Williams. “Alan offered to replace his signs with mine, and offered to send a recorded message of his endorsement. I’m grateful for his efforts.”

To date, only Brookhaven mayoral candidate Sandy Murray has picked up any endorsements from former candidates. Murray has been endorsed by newly elected District 2 Councilman Jim Eyre, as well as former unsuccessful District 3 candidate Deborah Anthony.
