What You Need To Know About The Bolt
Brookhaven's big race is tomorrow, and here are some important facts and need-to-know information.
The 2012 Brookhaven Bolt is set for Saturday, May 19, with the race kicking off promptly at 8 am. Here's what you need to know:
How long is the course?
3.1 miles, or 5 kilometers
Road Closures
Caldwell Road between Redding and Ashford will be closed from 7-11.
Cravenridge Road from top of Tryon Road to Pamela Road will be closed from
5-:15 am.
Restrooms Along The Course
Go before you come to the race! There are no restrooms along the course. Restrooms will be available at the start of the race and at the finish line.
Water will be available at one water station located near the 1.5 mile mark, and at the finish line.
Parking
The race begins at 8 am sharp, with walkers and strollers going off at 8:05. Parking for all runners is at the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe Marta Station parking lot on Apple Valley Road, one block south of Peachtree.
Apple Valley Road can be accessed from either Dresden Drive or North Druid Hills Road. It is a short .3 mile walk from the parking lot to the race staging area (the back parking lot of Village Place Brookhaven). You should account for the five-minute walk from the parking lot to the race start.
Handicap parking is located in the Village Place parking lot directly behind J. Christopher's. You may only enter at the parking lot at the entrance located directly adjascent to J. Christopher's. Dresden Drive will be closed from Camille to Elijay. When you reach the road closure please indicate to the police officer that you require handicap access, they will direct you from there.
