A loyal Patch reader recently alerted us to a rumor that Taco Mac was considering the old Stir Crazy Asian Grill location in Town Brookhaven as a new location.

A representative from Tappan Street, the company that owns Taco Mac, denied the rumor. Nonetheless, Patch would like to re-open discussion from you, about what you think should go into this prime Town Brookhaven piece of real estate.

Tell us in the Comments section below.

About this column: A weekly look at vacant spaces in Brookhaven and Chamblee, and a discussion about what kinds of businesses would be ideal for that location. Related Topics: Town Brookhaven

How about city hall or a police precinct? :-)

No, it's too expensive. The city hall and police station should be located at a cheaper locale. Prime retail space like this should be used for commercial activity that will generate revenue to pay for a city hall and police precinct.

John McGrew...thank you for your response. I agree with you 100%. My suggestions were intended to be humorous. I failed however...sorry. BTW, the points you raised also hold true for the old Harris Teeter site in my opinion.

Perhaps some day when Brookhaven is swimming in cash we can consider a high-profile location like the old HT. But we'll never be a city in a financial position to do that if we start spending like that now. Fortunately, I think most of the people we've elected understand this.

No pizza - we already have Treza and Newt's selling pizza in that Town Brookhaven center.

What about something like Cafe Sunflower? It is currently located behind Houston's on Peachtree near Piedmont hospital. If you haven't been, treat yourself and go. It's vegetarian. I am not, but this place is awesome. The food is out of this world. They also serve beer and wine. Their vegetarian burrito is my favorite.

John McGraw...I hope you're right about trying to locate city hall in an expensive, high profile location.

Their newest one just opened in the Georgetown Shopping Center (old Garcia's) in Dunwoody.

Here's their website - http://www.farmburger.net/dunwoody/

No more restaurants in Town Brookhaven please - it is already saturated with eating establishments and probably cannot sustain them. Expect more departures in the coming year unless the new apartment complex currently under construction brings a sufficient number of residents/traffic to support the existing restaurants.
