Oh, No! Library Coffee Is Closing!

After more than three years as an original anchor for Village Place, Library Coffee is closing its doors at the end of the month.

Owner Brian Kahan posted this item on his store's Facebook page on May 14:

"After an awesome three and a half year run we are closing our doors on May 31st. While it is truly sad to close our doors, I have an amazing offer and life opportunity that I simply cannot pass up. Brookhaven has been part of my life for 11 years and our goal when we opened up was to try and give Brookhaven it's own independent meeting space/café. While that was a resounding success, it has truly been an honor to serve the community."

The space will become home to a new sushi restaurant, EaterAtlanta reports.

Library Coffee has been my meeting place of choice since I've been with Patch. I've seen this stretch of Dresden transform from dilapidated homes and empty space to the vibrant Village Place that it is today, and Library Coffee has played a huge role in that process.

I've met and interviewed everyone from public relations professionals to elected officials and everyone in between at the store, and while I enjoy sushi, I know that Library Coffee will be missed.

We need an injunction. Is this a "New Coke" marketing strategy, Brian? Not funny. Keep Library in Brookhaven!

This is too bad. I think the coffee shop fits the location much better than a Sushi eatery.

If I had a million dollars I'd buy me a K car - and Library Coffee so it could continue its vital neighborhood role. Love Sushi - don't want it here.
