Kim Gokce One Of Brookhaven's Leading Volunteers

The Cross Keys Foundation founder and president, and former member of the Brookhaven commission, is involved on many levels.

Kim Gokce, founding director and president of the Cross Keys Foundation, is one of Brookhaven's leading volunteers.

Most recent he was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.

The event was held at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

Each year at the sponsored event, the Metro Atlanta YMCA bestows the title of “Volunteer of the Year” to acknowledge the success of volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the mission of one or more of the twenty-plus area YMCA centers and service locations in Atlanta metro.

“When I was contacted about this recognition, I was sure there was some mistake — so many volunteers accomplish so much for so many children through the YMCA. I was very humbled,” said Gokce, who is also a former member of the Brookhaven Commission.

Gokce was recognized for his work to bring YMCA-managed recreational and educational programs to an under-served population in the Cross Keys High School attendance area.

Thank you, Shawn and Henry. The Y is possibly the perfect non-profit in that they always seem to have the right priorities for serving children in our community. I could name many more deserving people but I was very happy and inspired to receive their recognition ... shows clearly in the picture with my trophy and my trophy wife.

Thanks, Jed, John, and EPU - looks like the under the table money to Patch got this republished. : )

I appreciate the generous comments. The truth is, all I do is let folks see the assets we have in our young people and open doors for the community.
