Jimmy Carter's Grandson Endorses Murray For Brookhaven Mayor

The Decatur state senator joins others in endorsing the Brookhaven mayoral candidate on the last day before the runoff.

State Sen. Jason Carter, grandson of former president Jimmy Carter, has endorsed Brookhaven mayoral candidate Sandy Murray.

Murray's campaign announced the endorsement and several others on Monday morning. Murray faces J. Max Davis to become Brookhaven's first-ever mayor in tomorrow's runoff.

Carter, a Democrat, represents portions of Decatur and DeKalb County in the state Senate.

Murray also announced the endorsement of former Brookhaven mayoral candidate Larry Danese. The day after the Nov. 6 election, Murray was endorsed by Brookhaven's first elected official in history, District 2 city councilman Jim Eyre.

While Brookhaven's elections are non-partisan, Murray's campaign identified both Danese and Eyre as Republicans.

The campaign said that former Democratic state Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond has also endorsed Murray.

BTW, very inappropriate of Sandy Murray to attack J. Max Davis' deceased father with her smear campaign emails last night. I hope the same crowd who criticized the "cancer" flyers attacking Jim Eyre will show the same anger towards Sandy and her despicable attacks on Mr. Davis' family. Sandy Murray has NO BUSINESS representing our City!!!

Mr. John, I find it interesting that the senior J. Max died in 2002 and the junior J. Max tax delinquencies started in 2007 and continued through 2012. The only person making a connection to the deceased senior J. Max is Rep. Mike Jacobs in his e-blast and you!

So, what is up with these tax deficiencies? Is he unable to manage his personal finances?

Representative Jacobs email describes and responds to Sandy Murray's shameful behavior. If the 'pink slime' wants to endorse this behavior no one will be surprised. These 'No City' folks lost in the Georgia State House, they lost in the Georgia Senate, they lost at the polls on July 31, and they will lose tomorrow. Sandy Murray and her 'pink slime' cohort will go down the drain. Oh, Burrell Ellis says we can't dump slime into the drains, now what.

JQP, it is State Representative Jacobs who is clearing up Sandy Murray's lies. She understands she is not qualified to be Mayor of Brookhaven, so she continues to wage a smear campaign in her desperate attempt to hijack the election. Brookhaven residents are smarting than that and it will show tomorrow.

eDDIE, why can't your gang of cronies (DeKalb County Democrats) find anyone to successfully take on Mr. Jacobs for District 80? The thought that Sandy Murray could beat him is almost as comical as her chances to succeed tomorrow. Was that seriously the best y'all could do? If he is the tyrant you accuse him to be, I would think that the powerful Democrat machine could challenge him. Or maybe YOU and your feelings for Mr. Jacobs are in the minority just like you were back on July 31st. Just wondering...

HamBurger, you reek of moldy cheese ... what's on that burger anyway? junior J Max delinquencies didn't start in 2007 because junior J Max did not have any delinquencies. Get your facts straight next time. It was his father's estate and J Max wasn't the executor. In fact (not that you care about facts), it was DeKalb County's mishandling of the estate that caused the delinquency in the first place ... JUST ONE REASON OF MANY TO SUPPORT OUR NEW CITY.

As Mayor, he will be voting on what to do with Tax Payer Money, not his own.
There is no reason to believe that JMax would ever use his own money for Pay to Play.

Mr. John, Rep. Mike Jacobs is not being very forthcoming with his explanation. Look at the link you provided. The Fi Fa is for J. Max’s personal home. There was five years between the death of J. Max senior and the date on this Fi Fa. Rep. Mike Jacob’s explanation is simply an effort to carry water for J. Max.

When is Rep Mike Jacobs going to let J. Max take off the training wheels? Will it be Wednesday morning? Or will it be a year from Wednesday?

As you well know, Brookhaven was drawn to eliminate as many Democrats as possible. During the development of the brokehaven mudprint, Democrats were kept as far away as possible from all developments and had no input into the proceedings.
Therefore, it should be obvious that Democrats (even the strongest ones) have nothing whatsoever to do with this nonsense.

JMAX not paying his taxes on his business property?
Is this not a Dunwoody issue? A business not paying its taxes on time is not accounted for in the CVI study, therefore, there is no chance this could happen in Brookhaven. For if it would happen in Brookhaven, the CVI study would be irrelevent.
Therefore, have no fear, there is no chance with jmax as mayor the CVI study could possible have had agressive revenue streams.

I cannot overcome HamBurger's reasoning that the most motivate mayor will be the one who is most publicly connected to the concept of a new city called Brookhaven. HamBurger is right--Vote for the one that has the most exposure to failure if things do not go right.

Like HamBurger noted. If you vote for Sandy Murray, who was against the City, if things become difficult, her "out" as Mayor can be "Don;t look at me. I am not at fault, I did not make those promises to get the city.".

J. Max has those promises in his leadership of BrookhavenYES. I want him to fulfill those promises. And the ONLY way to make him accountable is to make him MAYOR.

Davis' endorsements are no surprise and Murray's endorsements that are no surprise; ditto for the other candidates. I find nothing surprising in these non-partisan races. Just more of the same; more govt to take our money and politicians being politicians. Dunwoody is several years old now and they are still complaining about parks, paving and police. In several years (after all taxes go up again to feed more govt) we will still be complaining about parks, paving and police.
