Garbage Pickup Changes for Holiday

Regular collection begins on Thursday of this week.

Here is this week's garbage pickup schedule for Brookhaven and Chamblee from the DeKalb County Sanitation Department:

  • Garbage pickup: No collection Tuesday, Jan. 1. That service will move to Jan. 2 with the regular collection schedule resuming Jan. 3.
  • Yard waste and blue box recycling services will be delayed one day through Jan. 4.

The Dekalb Co web site had no recycling posted for last week....but they showed up anyhow. Will they show up Thursday for recycling (our permanent date was moved from Wednesday to Thursday after Christmas!)

Has the county posted a new holiday schedule for 2013 yet? Did they know 2013 was coming?

Yea, DeKalb did a very poor job of communicating this. And so one day later i hope means the wednesday that was just moved to Thursday is now moved to Friday.

BTW where's the better place to buy the blue bags? From DeKalb or Home Deport. I saw them there once and assume they still sell them?

While I've been out driving today, I've seen rows and rows of blue recycling bins and blue recycling bags piling up on curbside by curbside. I'll be taking photos tomorrow and will publish them on the site. We'd love to have your photos as well, as it does seem DeKalb Sanitation has dropped the ball in communicating whatever schedule it has.

Mr. Tim, I agree, it is annoying not knowing what the holiday trash pickup schedule is. Shame on DeKalb County for this oversight. So, we just made a phone call for verification.

However, more annoying is not knowing what the Brookhaven city budget is. Do you have insight? Anyone know when we will have a budget?

Special hamburger?

Mr. Burger,

I think we have been politely told to stop asking about the budget.

What a bunch of pathetic A-Holes. Perhaps Brookhaven will take over sanitation. Our corrupt Mayor, who accepted campaign contributions feom the Pink Pony, nearly every vendor who has been awarded a contract, and he also accepted contributions from the lobbyist for Waste Management. You shallow little people. Get out and do something with your miserable lives.

Of course if we want to see expensive and unreliable, let's jump head first into for-profit trash pickup.
For all the Dekalb haters, talk to anybody who moved to another locale about their new sanitation services.

I Love Brookhaven

Better rethink your strategy. Dekalb County still will provide 93.78% of all of our services. Better not cut off our nose to spite our face.
Hey! I love Brookhaven! But I think dissing the hand that will deliver most of your stuffin's is a bad idea. And I love you too. We have a city now. Lets be positive. No more negativity John Q and friends.

Still dependent on DeKalb County? That’s funny! I am still running into folks that think they have completely succeeded from DeKalb County! The one I liked best was the lady that profusely praised Rep. Mike Jacobs for getting her children out of DeKalb County schools!

Special hamburger and a Cheerwine?

Get a life, people. Someone made an unintentional mistake that should not disrupt too many lives except, apparently, those who have no life..

It must be nice to have such a fulfilling life that people have the time to post numerous times daily on contrived issues of the day such as a mix up on garbage pickup during a Holiday week.

I am curious to see how long it takes for some individuals to post a congratulations on a job well done or, perhaps, grudgingly acknowledging that some things emanating from the Brookhaven formation are working out well.

I am not holding my breath.

Phil,
Well said. The Brookhaven Patch is nothing more than a conduit for haters and naysayers...and Tim Darnell advocates this so he can get clicks. I wonder if the advertisers on the Patch - most of which are piped in from Google AdSense - know what they are attached to here. Perhaps we should all make it a point to NOT do business with those here who are helping to fund this cesspool.

Surely there has to be another alternative.
