Brookhaven Fills its First Pothole

The repair took place on Mannville Drive, in Jim Eyre's city council district.

An area of Brookhaven that was most strongly against the notion of cityhood became the site of the new city's first road repair on Friday morning.

The new city made its first repair at 1883 Mannville Drive, near the Dresden Drive U.S. Post Office, in City Councilman Jim Eyre's District 2 community.

That area, bordered by the Ashford Park on one side of Dresden and the Skyland/Drew Valley communities on the other, was surrounded by the most vocal opponents to municipalization during last year's cityhood debate.

City public works director Richard Meehan said the district had nothing to do with why the pothole was chosen to be first on the repair list.

"Our job is to just fix the roads," he said.

Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis and Eyre were on hand.

Meehan also said about 90 service requests have been submitted so far. The best way submit projects for road repairs, Meehan said, is through SeeClickFix.com.

I look forward to the day when I don't develop a kidney stone from driving down Dresden. The whole road is shot.

I've read several complaints from residents about speeding on Dresden. If that is the case then they may want to keep some uneven surfaces on Dresden since it slows people down. Just saying.

Radar cannons.

One or two shots and nobody else will speed!

The solution to Dresden speeding is on the way - a load of multi-family developments that will bring it to a complete standstill around peak week-day hours and weekends.
