Brookhaven Commission Accepting Applications

Applications for four positions, including city manager and city attorney, are now being accepted electronically via the commission's website.

The Brookhaven Commission has begun collecting applications for the new city's manager, clerk, attorney and accountant.

Under the legislative bill creating the new city, the commission is required to present a report to the city's new mayor and city council on possible candidates' backgrounds and qualifications.

The commission is accepting resume submissions electronically via its website for only those positions.

Brookhaven's first-ever municipal elections will be held on Nov. 6. However, the races for mayor and the four city council seats all have three or more candidates, virtually assuring a Dec. 4 runoff.

The city officially begins operations on Dec. 17, meaning the newly elected mayor and city council will only have about two weeks to make their hiring decisions.

At its Oct. 25 meeting, the commission announced it has begun issuing final requests for proposals from vendors to provide a number of city services. Deadline for vendors who want to bid for city services is 5 pm on Nov. 12, 2012.
