One of the Chamber's first events is to offer up tribute to those who created more govt. I've never been comfortable with businesses having to curry favor from govt. I think the elected and non elected govt officials should politely refrain from such functions, an arms length approach to minimize any potential conflicts of interest.

How could the chamber honor the founders of the city and not mention Brookhaven Yes or citizens for north Dekalb? Kind of awkward and had to be intentional. "Other Volunteers"? I know there are chamber "leaders" who opposed the city but it looks kind of goofy that they ignored the elephant in the room as to who the founders are. All due respect to the governors commission and kudos to them for the 3 months of hard work but to ignore the real founders saps credibility from our new chamber. Hope they find a way to remedy this embarrassing "oversight" for the people who spent 2 years of their life fighting for our right to self determination.

Chambermaid, oh how I appreciate segues . . .

The folks honored are simply those chosen to guide research and suggestions for city formation based on HB 636. They in no way (except the chosen that were involved in spurring on the cityhood process, JD) should be faulted for any financial deficiencies or subsequent liabilities this city may have as it progresses in its roll-out.

The “Elephant In The Room” is the group of folks that actually started this city instead of involving themselves and getting our elected officials involved in cleaning up DeKalb government and DeKalb schools. Keep an eye on them, they could care less about the county that we still live in and the schools our children still attend and are educated in. So, they think they have distanced themselves from a county that they still live in? Please!

Just look where we are, and how little cityhood has accomplished. Privately, businesses will tell you this city is a joke. It is always handy to keep a second set of Books for the idiocy we are undergoing. And, do you really have a city budget that makes sense?

The folks you need to chastise for their inability to intelligently research what it takes to create a new city are indeed C$ND and Brookhaven Yes. They, individually, have actually done a disservice to the area. You need their names?

Hey, let me give you a special hamburger to help you over your misguided assumptions about Brookhaven cityhood!

Please pass the yellow mustard!

Hamburger,

Agreed. Once the true costs are apparent to everyone and part of our tax bills, there will be plenty of time to 'honor' those responsible.
