Patch received word of some issues with the pool at Briarwood Rec Center late Thursday afternoon and evening.
My wife and son attempted to visit the pool late Thursday afternoon, and were told by personnel there were some water leaks in the restroom facilities.
Later, we received an e-mail from our friends in the Drew Valley Civic Association that Commissioner Kathie Gannon's office said there is a safety problem with the pool equipment, and emergency repairs have been scheduled for Friday through the weekend.

We were there Sunday when the break happened. Water was spewing out of the outside walls about 2 feet above the entrance sidewalk outside. Once inside I noticed the bathrooms had about 4-6 inches of water on the floor. My concern is that the county will take 2-3 weeks to fix this and if the election results come in for a YES Tuesday night, any county work will stop immediately. The pool will shut down and not stay open until Aug. 12. I'm not betting on being able to use the facility as long as it is under the control of Dekalb gov't. We'll see if they prove me wrong. I hope that once Brookhaven CITY controls this property it can be brought up to code and kept open so people in the area can use it. It's a great pool for kids and those learning to swim or just cooling off.
