How else would the Districts be divided and still comply with VRA? Isn't that decided by the current precinct size?

Yours is a good question.
That is why it would have been good to have transparency during the 'invention' process rather than 'by invitation only'.
As to VRA, I'm not sure of the compliance. The size of Imaginary District 4 certainly is not comparable to the number of registered voters, however the rush to cityhood madness has certainly increased voter registration in that area dramatically. That is one bright spot in this otherwise dark waste of time and money.

But more importantly so what if they had drawn them differently? I assume the registered voters in the proposed city of Brookhaven are majority Republican. If we they drew the districts differently to try to include more even distribution of registered voters it would result in possibly all 4 council districts being heavily Republican. While i think matters of Police, Planning and Zoning and Parks transcends the Republican/Democratic divide and I am still happy that they didn't draw the 4 districts that way. Why? because at least 1 or maybe 2 districts could elect democrats. District 4 in other words would be guaranteed to not have a council person forced on them by people outside the district since that only people in that district can vote for that council person.

You must certainly be very well aware that one of the unmentioned driver's of this fools errand is for the 'One Party State' to control by force what it has been unable to attain at the ballot box.
I'm really glad that when the city vote fails (and with it the lunatic notion of milton county) there will be no fall-back or 'plan b'.
Of course, the next session of the General Assembly is probably going to be as deficient of leadership as has been every session since the ascendancy of the 'one party state'.
There has never been any interest in assimilating the interests of those south of Peachtree. Just a need to scavenge the tax revenue generated therein.

Eddie I can't argue that point, I'm sure it does apply to some people, though not to all, and I dare say not to the majority. But hey without good scientific polling as to motivation (though who would admit to that even if polled) we are just lobbing theories.

With my last post (sorry about the typos) I merely wanted to point out one thing that lessened my fears about drowning out the voices of those not in the majority. I really think this is the best way to go in a community that does have a diversity, diversity that I think will make the City of Brookhaven the best newer city in metro Atlanta.

I think they were drawn to reflect communities of interest. It may lead to some contentious council meetings but at least it will help assure the diverse communities of the City have a voice.

Had I (or the leadership of my neighborhood association been invited or at least allowed) I would hope to have dissuaded the group to waste time and money on this effort and instead directed the same initiative to correcting any REAL problems.
However, there were always those with an eye on growing 'market share' at the expense of their neighbors (see brookhaven yes contributor filings).
As to the new 'vanity cities' I had a discussion with a friend in Peachtree Corners earlier in the week. He was lukewarm on the idea but 'went along' at the polls. Boy is he sorry now along with his neighbors who finally see the world without the 'self indulgence glasses' on.

Just as Brrokhaven is not Dunwoody, Brookhaven is not Peachtree Corners.
